Release Manager (Remote)
About This Position
Job Summary
GovCIO is seeking a skilled Release Manager to work remotely from Washington, D.C., supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs Health Services Portfolio Technical Management and Strategic Solutioning (HTMS) program. This role will coordinate software releases using VA‑approved processes and ensure smooth delivery of critical IT solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and execute release cycles for VA applications, adhering to established governance and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, and stakeholder teams to define release scope, risk mitigation strategies, and rollback procedures.
- Maintain release documentation, including release notes, deployment guides, and post‑implementation reports.
- Monitor release metrics, track issues, and drive continuous improvement of release processes.
- Facilitate release readiness reviews, change advisory board (CAB) meetings, and status communications with senior leadership.
- Ensure all releases meet United States Suitability/Public Trust security requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- U.S. citizenship with a current Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
- 5+ years of experience managing software releases in large, regulated environments (government or healthcare preferred).
- Strong knowledge of ITIL/DevOps release management frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps).
- Excellent communication, stakeholder‑management, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting while coordinating across multiple time zones.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with VA or other federal agency IT projects.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and automated testing suites.
- Certifications such as ITIL Foundation, PMP, or Certified Release Manager.
Compensation
Salary range: $97,106.95 per year.
