Release Manager (Remote)

Job Summary

GovCIO is seeking a Release Manager (Remote) to support the Health Services Portfolio Technical Management and Strategic Solutioning Support (HTMS) program for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This fully remote role is based out of Bismarck, Burleigh County, ND, with a salary of $91,294.81.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage software releases following VA’s established processes and procedures.
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure release readiness and compliance.
• Maintain release schedules, documentation, and post‑release reporting.
• Identify and mitigate release risks, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
• Facilitate release‑related communications with stakeholders, including the VA Office of Information and Technology.
• Ensure all releases meet security, compliance, and suitability/public trust requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in release management or a similar role within a federal or large‑scale IT environment.
• Strong understanding of ITIL, Agile, and DevOps release practices.
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Eligibility for U.S. Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting healthcare or government programs.
• Knowledge of VA systems and compliance frameworks.
• Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or Release Management Professional.
