About This Position
Job Summary
Join Becton Dickinson & Company in El Paso, Texas as a Quality Technician – Scrap Management (5th Shift). You will ensure that all scrap materials are handled, documented, and processed in compliance with FDA and internal quality standards while supporting continuous improvement on the night shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections of scrap generated on the production line and verify proper segregation.
- Document scrap disposition in the electronic quality system, ensuring traceability and accurate root‑cause analysis.
- Conduct investigations of non‑conforming scrap, collaborate with engineering and production teams to determine corrective actions.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, ISO 13485, and company SOPs for scrap handling and disposal.
- Generate shift reports, trend data, and metrics for scrap volume, cost, and repeat occurrences.
- Participate in 5th‑shift continuous‑improvement projects, suggesting process changes to reduce waste.
- Train and mentor new shift technicians on scrap management procedures and safety protocols.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to EHS guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably medical device or pharmaceutical.
- Strong knowledge of FDA, ISO 13485, and GMP requirements.
- Proficiency with electronic quality management systems (eQMS) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently during night shift hours and follow detailed procedures.
