About This Position
Job Summary
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Networks Engineer (Regional Level II) to join our team at Schriever Air Force Base, El Paso County, US. This senior role drives the design, implementation, and support of advanced network solutions for critical defense systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of secure, high‑availability network infrastructures supporting mission‑critical applications.
- Design and implement routing, switching, firewall, and VPN solutions across satellite, ground, and cloud environments.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and contractors.
- Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and root‑cause analysis for complex network issues.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems, and software teams to ensure compliance with DoD security standards.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, network diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in on‑site and remote travel up to 10% of the time to support customer sites and field operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior or lead role.
- Expertise with Cisco, Juniper, and other enterprise‑grade routing and switching platforms.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, QoS, and secure networking protocols.
- Active Secret security clearance (required at start).
- Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCDP, or equivalent are highly preferred.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
