About This Position

The Portfolio Grant Accountant role at Yale University supports the Integrated Business Office of Therapeutic Radiology, Pathology, and Laboratory services in New Haven, US. This position partners with the Sr. Finance Manager to manage grant portfolios, ensure compliance, and provide financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile grant accounts, ensuring accurate recording of all expenditures and revenues.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for multiple research portfolios.
  • Collaborate with Principal Investigators, department heads, and external funding agencies to resolve accounting issues.
  • Monitor grant compliance with university policies, federal regulations, and sponsor requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support internal and external audit processes.
  • Develop and improve accounting procedures, controls, and documentation for grant management.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff and faculty on grant financial policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in grant accounting, preferably in a higher‑education or research environment.
  • Strong knowledge of federal grant regulations (e.g., OMB, Uniform Guidance).
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with therapeutic radiology, pathology, or laboratory financial operations.
  • Certification such as CPA or CGMA.
  • Familiarity with Yale’s Integrated Business Office systems and processes.

Compensation & Benefits
