About This Position
The OT Network and SCADA Technician role at Yukon Energy Corporation is a permanent, full‑time position based in Whitehorse, Yukon. You will keep critical power‑generation and distribution systems connected, secure, and operating smoothly across the territory.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade OT network infrastructure linking plants, substations, and the control centre.
- Configure, monitor, and support SCADA hardware and software to ensure real‑time data integrity.
- Implement cybersecurity measures and perform regular vulnerability assessments.
- Collaborate with field engineers and operations staff to resolve connectivity issues quickly.
- Document network topologies, change‑control procedures, and incident reports.
- Provide on‑call support for emergency outages and system restorations.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Networking, or related field.
- 3+ years experience with industrial Ethernet, fiber optics, and SCADA platforms (e.g., IEC 60870‑5‑104, DNP3).
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, VPNs, firewalls, and VLAN design.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in remote environments.
- Valid Yukon driver’s license and willingness to travel to remote sites.
Preferred Experience
- Certification such as CCNA, CCNP, or IEC 62443.
- Experience in the utility or energy sector.
- Familiarity with PLC communication protocols.
Compensation & Benefits
Level 9 hourly rate: $51.44 – $61.44 per hour plus Northern Allowance. Full benefits package, pension plan, and opportunities for professional development.
