Medical Monitoring Unit Manager
About This Position
Translational Research in Oncology (TRIO) is hiring a Medical Monitoring Unit Manager in Oliver, Edmonton to lead the oversight of oncology clinical trials from Phase I to Phase III. This senior physician role ensures the medical and scientific integrity of each study while guiding a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Medical Monitoring Unit (MMU) and supervise medical monitors, data reviewers, and safety physicians.
- Ensure compliance with protocol, regulatory requirements, and Good Clinical Practice across all oncology trials.
- Review safety data, adverse events, and efficacy reports; make recommendations for protocol amendments.
- Collaborate with study teams, biostatisticians, and CROs to maintain high‑quality data and timelines.
- Develop and deliver training on medical monitoring processes and risk‑based monitoring strategies.
- Prepare medical monitoring reports for sponsors, ethics boards, and health authorities.
- Participate in strategic planning, budget forecasting, and resource allocation for the MMU.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification in Oncology or Hematology.
- Minimum 5 years experience in clinical trial oversight, preferably in Phase I‑III oncology studies.
- Strong understanding of ICH‑GCP, FDA, Health Canada, and other regulatory guidelines.
- Proven leadership and team‑management skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Experience with electronic data capture systems and safety databases.
