Medical Claims Specialist

Key Responsibilities

• Enter and verify patient and claim data in the billing system with a high degree of accuracy.
• Communicate professionally with insurance companies, providers, and patients via phone and written correspondence to resolve claim issues.
• Track claim status, perform timely follow‑ups, and ensure reimbursement aligns with contractual agreements.
• Identify and correct claim rejections, denials, and underpayments, escalating complex cases when necessary.
• Maintain detailed logs of all interactions and updates in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
• Collaborate with the billing team to improve workflows and reduce claim turnaround time.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in health administration, business, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience in medical billing or claims processing, preferably with mental health providers.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD‑10, and insurance payer guidelines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
• Proficiency with billing software (e.g., AdvancedMD, Kareo) and Microsoft Office Suite.
