About This Position

Join Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in Bakersfield, Kern County as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) working night shifts. Provide compassionate, skilled nursing care in a 90‑bed acute psychiatric facility serving children, adolescents and adults.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care during night hours, including assessments, medication administration, and wound care.
  • Monitor and document patient behavior, vital signs, and response to treatment in electronic health records.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans.
  • Support safe detoxification and chemical‑dependency protocols under medical supervision.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, code situations, and patient safety concerns.
  • Provide patient and family education on treatment, discharge planning, and after‑care resources.
  • Maintain compliance with state licensing, hospital policies, and federal regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Current California LVN license in good standing.
  • Minimum 1‑2 years nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric, behavioral health, or detox settings.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to work independently during night shifts.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork abilities.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with adolescent or pediatric mental health populations.
  • Knowledge of co‑occurring disorder treatment and substance‑use detoxification.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $54,225 – $73,985 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental, vision, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, and continuing education support.
