About This Position
Join Bakersfield Behavioral Healthcare Hospital in Bakersfield, Kern County as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) working night shifts. Provide compassionate, skilled nursing care in a 90‑bed acute psychiatric facility serving children, adolescents and adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care during night hours, including assessments, medication administration, and wound care.
- Monitor and document patient behavior, vital signs, and response to treatment in electronic health records.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans.
- Support safe detoxification and chemical‑dependency protocols under medical supervision.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, code situations, and patient safety concerns.
- Provide patient and family education on treatment, discharge planning, and after‑care resources.
- Maintain compliance with state licensing, hospital policies, and federal regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Current California LVN license in good standing.
- Minimum 1‑2 years nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric, behavioral health, or detox settings.
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to work independently during night shifts.
- Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork abilities.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with adolescent or pediatric mental health populations.
- Knowledge of co‑occurring disorder treatment and substance‑use detoxification.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
Compensation & Benefits
