Large Accounts Underwriter

EMC Insurance Companies is seeking a Large Accounts Underwriter to join their team in the Minneapolis, MN or Milwaukee, WI area. This role manages and grows a profitable large‑account portfolio while delivering exceptional client service.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage a portfolio of large commercial accounts, ensuring profitability and risk compliance.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and key clients.
• Analyze complex insurance applications, assess risk factors, and determine appropriate pricing.
• Collaborate with underwriting team members to share best practices and improve underwriting guidelines.
• Prepare detailed underwriting reports and present recommendations to senior management.
• Monitor account performance and proactively identify opportunities for growth or renewal.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience underwriting large commercial accounts, preferably in property & casualty.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex risk data.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency with underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be located in the Minneapolis, MN or Milwaukee, WI metropolitan area.

Compensation

Salary range: $100,085 – $138,285 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
