Job Summary

Ztek Consulting is seeking an experienced L2 Data Center Technician for an onsite contract role in Sparks, Washoe County, NV. This position offers a fixed annual rate of $99,809.03 and focuses on rack‑and‑stack, troubleshooting, and documentation within a high‑performance data center environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rack and stack of servers, network switches, storage arrays and other data‑center equipment according to design schematics.
• Execute hands‑on break‑fix troubleshooting, diagnose hardware failures, replace defective components, and verify system functionality.
• Maintain accurate cabling records, update wiring diagrams, and ensure compliance with industry standards (TIA‑568, BICSI).
• Collaborate with L1 support and engineering teams via WebEx/Teams to resolve escalated incidents.
• Monitor environmental controls (temperature, humidity, power) and respond to alerts to prevent downtime.
• Document all work orders, change requests, and post‑implementation reports in the ticketing system.
• Assist with capacity planning, equipment inventory, and periodic audits.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4‑5 years of hands‑on experience in a Tier‑III or Tier‑IV data center.
• Strong understanding of core data‑center components: servers, networking gear, UPS, PDUs, and cooling systems.
• Proven break‑fix and troubleshooting abilities, with a focus on rapid issue resolution.
• Expertise in structured cabling, labeling, and documentation discipline.
• Familiarity with remote collaboration tools (WebEx, Microsoft Teams) for incident handling.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, BICSI) are a plus.
