Surrey County Council is seeking a Kitchen Lead / Cook for its Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development (SOLD) sites in Dorking, Surrey. This bank position offers a starting rate of £16.93 per hour and focuses on leading evening kitchen shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate kitchen operations during the 1 pm – 8 pm shift across multiple SOLD locations (High Ashurst, Mickleham, Dorking).
• Prepare and cook nutritious meals for learners and staff, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
• Manage kitchen staff, delegate tasks, and maintain a safe, hygienic work environment.
• Monitor stock levels, order supplies, and control waste to stay within budget.
• Ensure compliance with food safety standards (HACCP) and health & safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of production, temperature logs, and cleaning schedules.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a kitchen supervisory or lead cook role, preferably in an educational or community setting.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work flexible evenings and adapt to varying shift patterns.
• Excellent communication and team‑leadership skills.
• Food Hygiene Level 2 certification (or willingness to obtain).
