IT Service Desk Engineer

Job Summary

Hunter Selection is hiring an IT Service Desk Engineer for a 6‑month on‑site contract in Arlingham, Gloucester. This role offers a competitive salary of £46,800‑£52,000 and requires NPPV3 security clearance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to internal users across Windows, Office 365, and network services.
• Log, diagnose, and resolve incidents and service requests in an ITIL‑aligned ticketing system.
• Perform remote troubleshooting, desk‑side assistance, and walk‑up support as required.
• Escalate complex issues to senior teams while maintaining clear communication with users.
• Document solutions and contribute to knowledge‑base articles.
• Assist with hardware provisioning, software installations, and routine system maintenance.

Required Skills & Experience

• Active NPPV3 security clearance (must be maintained throughout the contract).
• Proven experience in a public‑sector IT service desk or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, Active Directory, and common business applications.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA).
• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
