About This Position
UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Inpatient Care Management, Medical Director to work remotely while being based in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, US. This senior clinical role leads inpatient care strategies, improves outcomes and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate inpatient care management programs that align with Optum’s clinical standards.
- Lead a team of physicians, nurses, and care coordinators to ensure high‑quality, evidence‑based patient care.
- Analyze clinical data and utilization metrics to identify improvement opportunities and drive cost‑effective solutions.
- Collaborate with pharmacy, data analytics, and technology groups to integrate digital tools into care pathways.
- Provide clinical expertise for complex cases, conduct peer reviews, and mentor junior medical staff.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and UnitedHealth Group policies.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in inpatient care management or hospital medicine leadership.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive clinical improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to influence cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and telehealth platforms.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
Compensation & Benefits
