About This Position
Job Summary
Join Tropicana Community Services as a Human Resources Coordinator for the Canada Summer Jobs program in Toronto, Ontario. This full‑time, hybrid role runs from June to August 2026 and supports the People & Culture team in delivering HR services to a vibrant, community‑focused organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Manager, People & Culture with daily HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee record management.
- Coordinate summer‑job postings, applications, and selection processes for youth participants.
- Maintain HR databases and ensure compliance with Canada Summer Jobs regulations.
- Provide frontline support to staff and volunteers, answering policy questions and guiding them through HR procedures.
- Help organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and employee engagement activities.
- Prepare reports, metrics, and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Support payroll processing, benefits enrollment, and leave administration.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1‑2 years of experience in HR administration, preferably in a non‑profit or community setting.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment standards and Canada Summer Jobs program requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
Work Environment
The position is based in Scarborough, ON, with a hybrid work model that combines on‑site presence and remote work. You will be part of a supportive, Black‑led organization dedicated to empowering youth, newcomers, seniors, and families across the Greater Toronto Area.
