Job Summary
Niyaa People Ltd is seeking an experienced Housing Officer for a temporary, field‑based role supporting multiple housing patches in Derbyshire, East Midlands. You will work directly with residents, carry out inspections, and relieve pressure on the permanent housing management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular property visits, inspections and tenancy checks across assigned housing patches.
- Provide frontline customer service, addressing tenant enquiries, complaints and rent collection issues.
- Initiate and follow up on repairs, safety certifications and compliance actions.
- Assist with tenancy renewals, rent arrears management and eviction processes where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records in the housing management system and produce timely reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams, external contractors and partner agencies to resolve housing‑related matters.
- Promote tenant engagement initiatives and community cohesion programmes.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Housing Officer or similar role within a local authority or housing association.
- Strong knowledge of UK housing legislation, tenancy agreements and health & safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport with diverse communities.
- Competence in using housing management software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Full UK driving licence and reliable vehicle for field work.
- Organised, self‑motivated and able to work independently under pressure.
