About This Position

Job Summary

Niyaa People Ltd is seeking an experienced Housing Officer for a temporary, field‑based role supporting multiple housing patches in Derbyshire, East Midlands. You will work directly with residents, carry out inspections, and relieve pressure on the permanent housing management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular property visits, inspections and tenancy checks across assigned housing patches.
  • Provide frontline customer service, addressing tenant enquiries, complaints and rent collection issues.
  • Initiate and follow up on repairs, safety certifications and compliance actions.
  • Assist with tenancy renewals, rent arrears management and eviction processes where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records in the housing management system and produce timely reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external contractors and partner agencies to resolve housing‑related matters.
  • Promote tenant engagement initiatives and community cohesion programmes.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Housing Officer or similar role within a local authority or housing association.
  • Strong knowledge of UK housing legislation, tenancy agreements and health & safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build rapport with diverse communities.
  • Competence in using housing management software and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Full UK driving licence and reliable vehicle for field work.
  • Organised, self‑motivated and able to work independently under pressure.
