Job Summary
Niyaa People Ltd is seeking an experienced Housing Officer for a temporary position with a local authority in Derby, Derbyshire. This field‑based role supports multiple housing patches, conducts community visits and inspections, and helps ease the workload of the permanent team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular property inspections and tenancy visits across assigned housing patches.
- Provide frontline customer service, addressing tenant enquiries, concerns and complaints promptly.
- Assist with tenancy agreements, rent collection, and arrears management.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance requests, liaising with contractors and internal teams.
- Support the enforcement of tenancy policies, issuing notices where required.
- Maintain accurate records in the housing management system and produce required reports.
- Collaborate with social services, health teams and other external partners to safeguard vulnerable residents.
- Contribute to community outreach initiatives and tenant engagement events.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Housing Officer or in a similar housing management role.
- Strong knowledge of UK housing legislation, tenancy law and local authority procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer‑focused approach.
- Ability to work independently in the field and manage a varied workload.
- Competency with housing management software and Microsoft Office suite.
- Full, clean driving licence and reliable vehicle for travel across Derbyshire.
