Food Scientist

Actalent is seeking a Food Scientist for its R&D Food Science department in East Hanover, Morris County, US. This role supports multiple product groups, focusing on sugars, sweeteners and emerging flavor trends.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead research and development projects across several brands, from concept through commercialization.
• Formulate and evaluate ingredient systems, especially sugars, sweeteners and flavor enhancers.
• Identify and analyze new consumer flavor trends to inform product innovation.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and cross‑functional communication.
• Ensure all work complies with FDA, USDA and internal quality standards.
• Document experimental results, generate technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of experience in food ingredient R&D, preferably with sugars, sweeteners or flavor systems.
• Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality systems (GMP, HACCP).
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques, sensory analysis and data analysis software.
• Excellent project management, communication and teamwork skills.
