Firefighter Inspector

Job Summary

Lockheed Martin is seeking a qualified Firefighter Inspector to join our Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation team in Stratford, Fairfield County, CT. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and Connecticut fire safety regulations while providing emergency response and inspection services.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Fire Marshal in conducting inspections of fire protection and life safety systems to ensure full compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and Connecticut Supplement codes.
• Perform structural and aircraft rescue firefighting operations, including emergency extinguishment and rescue of personnel.
• Respond to hazardous material incidents, conduct decontamination, and manage containment procedures.
• Execute confined‑space rescue missions and safely enter IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) atmospheres using appropriate breathing apparatus.
• Provide emergency medical treatment, including first aid and CPR, to injured personnel.
• Participate in fire prevention programs, conduct safety trainings, and develop emergency response plans.
• Maintain and test fire suppression equipment, alarms, and fire detection systems.
• Document inspection findings, incident reports, and corrective actions in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to improve safety protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid firefighter certification and state‑approved Firefighter I/II training.
• Experience with aircraft rescue firefighting and hazardous materials response preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and Connecticut fire safety codes.
• Ability to work in high‑stress, emergency situations and make quick, sound decisions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to train staff on safety procedures.
• Physical fitness to perform demanding rescue tasks and lift heavy equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Compensation

Salary: $85,820.41 per year (fixed).
