Job Summary

Time Appointments is hiring a Financial Controller for its client, an award‑winning company located in Great Bromley, Colchester, UK. This senior finance role offers a fixed salary of £56,705.21 and involves leading the Accounts & Finance department.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll and general ledger.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Develop and maintain robust budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow models.
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS and statutory reporting requirements.
• Manage internal and external audit processes and implement corrective actions.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Provide strategic financial insight to senior management to support business decisions.

Required Skills & Experience

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least 5 years of progressive finance experience.
• Proven experience in a similar controller or senior finance role, preferably within a UK‑based SME or mid‑market business.
• Strong analytical abilities and commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
