Job Summary

Bigge Crane and Rigging is seeking a skilled Field Service Mechanic to join our team in Gonzales, Ascension Parish, LA. This role involves on‑site repair and preventative maintenance of heavy‑lift equipment, supporting projects across the Baton Rouge region.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems on cranes, rigging gear, and related equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
• Maintain accurate service records, parts inventories, and work orders using the company’s CMMS.
• Collaborate with project managers and field crews to ensure equipment readiness and minimal downtime.
• Provide technical guidance to junior mechanics and apprentices.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and internal safety policies on every job site.
• Travel to various customer locations within the Baton Rouge area, sometimes requiring overnight stays.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical certification (e.g., ASE, HVAC, or equivalent) preferred.
• Minimum 3 years experience servicing heavy‑duty cranes, lift trucks, or industrial rigging equipment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic circuits, electrical schematics, and mechanical components.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record; ability to operate a company vehicle.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently in the field.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends.
