Ferries Terminal Design Manager – West Coast
About This Position
Jacobs is hiring a Ferries Terminal Design Manager for its Ports & Maritime team in Eagle River, Anchorage, Alaska. Lead multidisciplinary design teams on ferry terminal projects across Washington State and the Pacific Northwest.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate all design activities for ferry terminal projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements, codes, and Jacobs standards.
- Manage internal multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical) and oversee collaboration with external design partners.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between the client, Jacobs project delivery team, and subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and design deliverables, tracking progress and mitigating risks.
- Conduct design reviews, quality checks, and constructability assessments.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in design and documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Marine Engineering (or related field); Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 5+ years of experience managing design of marine infrastructure, preferably ferry terminals or ports.
- Proven track record leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. maritime regulations, Washington State design standards, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication, client‑facing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency with design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation) and project management tools.
