About This Position
The Facilities Apprentice role at Stormont-Vail HealthCare in Topeka, Shawnee County supports the Facilities Services team with building, system, and grounds maintenance. This full‑time, day‑shift apprenticeship offers hands‑on training across multiple trades.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled technicians with preventive maintenance and repairs of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Perform routine inspections of building interiors, exteriors, and grounds to identify and report issues.
- Support custodial and janitorial teams in maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Help with inventory management, ordering supplies, and stocking tool rooms.
- Participate in emergency response and safety drills, following all OSHA and hospital protocols.
- Document work orders, maintenance logs, and completed tasks in the facility management software.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; enrollment in a related trade or technical program is a plus.

- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools safely.
