Facets HIPAA Gateway (EDI) Consultant

The Facets HIPAA Gateway (EDI) Consultant role at Cognizant is a full‑time, remote position based out of the NY State Campus in Albany County, US. You will implement and support Facets EDI transaction processing for healthcare payer clients using the HIPAA Gateway.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather business and technical requirements for HIPAA‑compliant EDI integrations.
• Configure, test, and deploy the Facets HIPAA Gateway for payer environments.
• Provide end‑to‑end consulting support from design through go‑live and post‑implementation stabilization.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to troubleshoot transaction errors and ensure data integrity.
• Develop documentation, training materials, and best‑practice guidelines for clients.
• Stay current with HIPAA regulations and industry standards to advise clients on compliance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Facets or similar healthcare claims processing systems.
• Strong knowledge of HIPAA EDI standards (X12 837, 835, 270/271, etc.).
• Hands‑on experience configuring and supporting HIPAA Gateway solutions.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and client‑facing skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple projects.

Preferred Experience

• Cognizant or other large‑scale consulting experience in the healthcare payer space.
• Certifications such as Certified HIPAA Professional (CHP) or Facets-specific credentials.
