Job Summary
Leidos is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer in Long Beach, Harrison County, US. This role focuses on developing firmware and software for maritime systems, supporting critical defense and intelligence missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for PLC and related hardware platforms.
- Collaborate with systems engineers and subject matter experts to translate mission requirements into reliable software solutions.
- Perform code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high‑quality, maintainable code.
- Integrate software with sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces used in maritime applications.
- Develop and execute unit and integration test plans, documenting results and compliance with DoD standards.
- Support field deployments, provide technical assistance, and create maintenance documentation.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve system performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably with PLC or real‑time operating systems.
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming, low‑level hardware interfacing, and version control (Git, SVN).
- Familiarity with safety‑critical development processes and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, effective communication, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain required security clearances.
Compensation & Benefits
