Docking and Engineering Specification Writer

Job Summary

Thales Canada is seeking a Docking and Engineering Specification Writer to join its Dartmouth, Halifax region team. In this hybrid role you will create, review and maintain technical specifications for docking systems used in aerospace, defense and transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop clear, concise engineering specifications for docking mechanisms, interfaces and related subsystems.
• Collaborate with design engineers, system architects and project managers to capture functional requirements.
• Maintain configuration control and ensure documents meet internal standards and regulatory compliance.
• Conduct technical reviews, incorporate feedback and update specifications throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support cross‑functional teams in troubleshooting and resolving specification‑related issues.
• Assist in preparing technical proposals and tender documentation for customers worldwide.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical background.
• Proven experience writing engineering specifications for complex mechanical or aerospace systems.
• Strong understanding of docking mechanisms, mechanical interfaces and standards (e.g., ISO, MIL‑STD).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and document management systems is a plus.
