Job Summary

USAA is hiring a Director, Life Actuary for its Life Company Product Development Team in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, US. This senior leadership role oversees actuarial strategy, product development, and pricing for life and annuity offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the actuarial function for life and annuity product development, ensuring sound pricing, reserving, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with product managers, underwriters, finance, and technology teams to design competitive insurance solutions.
  • Develop and maintain actuarial models, assumptions, and forecasting tools that support business decisions.
  • Provide expert analysis and recommendations to senior leadership on profitability, capital adequacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Mentor and develop a high‑performing actuarial team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging data analytics techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • Fellowship (FSA) or equivalent actuarial credential with extensive experience in life insurance and annuities.
  • Minimum 10 years of actuarial experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership or director‑level role.
  • Proven track record in product development, pricing strategy, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in actuarial software (e.g., Prophet, MoSes) and data‑analysis tools (SQL, Python, R).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field; Master’s preferred.
