Director, Data Engineering

Job Summary

Paysafe Group is seeking a Director, Data Engineering to lead its data strategy from the UK office. This senior role oversees the design, delivery and optimisation of large‑scale data pipelines that power global payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the data engineering roadmap aligned with business goals across iGaming, e‑commerce, travel and hospitality.
• Lead a multi‑disciplinary team of data engineers, architects and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
• Design, build and maintain scalable, secure data platforms on cloud (AWS/GCP) and on‑premise environments.
• Ensure data quality, governance and compliance with GDPR and industry security standards.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and analytics teams to deliver real‑time insights and reporting.
• Manage vendor relationships and evaluate emerging technologies for data processing and storage.
• Develop budgeting, staffing plans and performance metrics for the data engineering function.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven expertise in big‑data technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hadoop, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.).
• Strong background in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and infrastructure as code.
• Deep understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT design, and real‑time streaming pipelines.
• Experience with GDPR, PCI‑DSS and other security/compliance frameworks.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; advanced degree a plus.
