Job Summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Director, Cybersecurity to lead its security strategy for Optum Tech. This senior role is based in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC, with remote or hybrid work options across DC, NC, and MN.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute enterprise‑wide cybersecurity strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead a multidisciplinary security team, overseeing threat detection, incident response, and risk management.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and data analytics groups to embed security controls into AI‑driven health‑care solutions.
• Manage security architecture, vulnerability assessments, and compliance programs (HIPAA, NIST, ISO 27001).
• Represent UnitedHealth Group in external partnerships, audits, and regulatory engagements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven expertise in cloud security (AWS, Azure), network defense, and identity/access management.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical risk to executive stakeholders.
