About This Position
Job Summary
ASC Connections Ltd, a leading plastic product manufacturer in Witney, Oxfordshire, is seeking an experienced Design and Tooling Manager. This hybrid role offers a salary of £50,000‑£60,000 and the chance to lead design and tooling initiatives from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new plastic products, ensuring they meet customer specifications and cost targets.
- Manage the complete tooling lifecycle, from concept drawings and CAD modelling to supplier selection, manufacturing, and maintenance.
- Collaborate closely with the Managing Director and Manufacturing Manager to align design strategies with production capabilities.
- Oversee a small team of designers and toolmakers, providing mentorship, performance reviews, and technical guidance.
- Maintain and improve existing tooling, implementing continuous improvement programmes to reduce lead times and scrap rates.
- Prepare project timelines, budgets, and risk assessments, reporting progress to senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the design and tooling process.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience (5+ years) in design and tooling within the plastics manufacturing sector.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) and familiarity with CAM processes.
- Track record of managing tooling projects from concept through to full‑scale production.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management abilities.
- Knowledge of material properties, injection moulding techniques, and cost‑optimization strategies.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional on‑site presence in Witney.
