Data Scientist – Prometheus Federal Services, Fairfax, Fairfax County, US

Prometheus Federal Services (PFS) is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support the Department of Veterans Affairs and other federal health programs. This role combines advanced statistical analysis, machine learning, and cloud‑native analytics to deliver high‑impact solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable machine‑learning models and AI solutions on Databricks and major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Collaborate with federal health stakeholders to translate business needs into analytical requirements.
• Perform data cleansing, feature engineering, and exploratory analysis on large‑scale health datasets.
• Create automated data pipelines and dashboards to monitor model performance and provide actionable insights.
• Document methodologies, write technical reports, and present findings to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience applying statistical methods and machine‑learning techniques to real‑world problems.
• Proficiency with Databricks, Spark, Python (pandas, scikit‑learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow), and SQL.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud‑native services such as AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or Google AI Platform.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional federal teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with healthcare or veteran data sets.
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and federal data security standards.
• Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, or Looker for data visualization.

Compensation

Salary: $141,042.33 per year (fixed).
