Data Platform Engineer (Remote)

Job Summary

Paymentology is seeking a skilled Data Platform Engineer to join its fully remote team in the United States. You will design, build, and optimise a multi‑cloud data platform that powers real‑time payments for banks and fintechs worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Implement real‑time streaming solutions (Kafka, Pulsar) to ingest transaction data from over 60 countries.
• Design data models and warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) for analytics and reporting.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and engineering teams to ensure data privacy and PCI‑DSS standards.
• Automate deployment, monitoring, and alerting using Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools.
• Perform performance tuning, capacity planning, and cost optimisation of cloud resources.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience building large‑scale data platforms in a cloud environment.
• Proficiency with SQL, Python/Scala, and data integration tools (Airflow, dbt, Spark).
• Strong knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis) and event‑driven architectures.
• Experience with data warehousing solutions (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and ETL/ELT design.
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Understanding of security best practices, encryption, and compliance for payment data.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the payments or fintech industry.
• Certifications in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
