Controls Engineer
About This Position
Controls Engineer at Actalent in Wentzville, Saint Charles County, US. This role drives PLC‑based automation, robotics integration and equipment reliability for a high‑volume manufacturing plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, commission and maintain PLC control systems for production equipment.
- Integrate robotic cells and motion‑control solutions to meet throughput targets.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, maintenance and engineering teams to diagnose and resolve complex control issues.
- Lead root‑cause analysis and continuous‑improvement projects that boost uptime, safety and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, wiring diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide technical support for equipment start‑ups, changeovers and upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with industry safety standards and Actalent’s quality system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in controls engineering within a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with PLC platforms (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.) and HMI/SCADA systems.
- Hands‑on experience with robotics integration, motion control, and industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Profinet).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to interpret schematics, ladder logic and functional specifications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar continuous‑improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as NFPA 79, IEC 60204.
- Experience with predictive maintenance tools and data analytics.
Compensation & Benefits
