About This Position
Thermon is seeking a Controls and Automation Engineer (Contract) in Oakville, Halton, Canada. The role focuses on designing, programming, and deploying industrial control systems while providing on‑site commissioning support.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build control panels, PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions for manufacturing customers.
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot automation code and architecture.
- Commission systems on‑site, provide hands‑on troubleshooting, and train end users.
- Integrate IoT/IIoT devices for remote monitoring, data logging, and analytics.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and cross‑functional teams to ensure project timelines and quality standards.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar), HMI development, and SCADA systems.
- Hands‑on experience with industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC-UA) and IoT platforms.
- Proficiency in electrical schematics, control panel layout, and safety standards (NEC, CSA).
- Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to work independently and travel to customer sites.
Contract Details & Compensation
Salary range: $85,000 – $93,000 CAD per year (contract). Full‑time contract position based in Oakville, Halton.
