Job Summary
Ochsner Health System is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in New Orleans, Orleans Parish. This full‑time role offers a competitive salary of $190,448 annually and provides a unique opportunity to impact the care of our most vulnerable patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medication management for NICU patients, including dosing, preparation, and monitoring of high‑risk drugs.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized pharmacotherapy plans.
- Conduct medication safety reviews, perform drug utilization assessments, and contribute to evidence‑based practice guidelines.
- Educate staff, patients’ families, and trainees on safe medication use, drug interactions, and newborn pharmacokinetics.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, adverse drug event reporting, and research projects within the NICU.
- Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, Ochsner policies, and accreditation standards.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE‑accredited program.
- Current active pharmacist license in Louisiana.
- Board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Pharmacy (BCPPS) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical pharmacy experience, with at least 1 year in a NICU or neonatal setting.
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and pharmacy information systems.
