Clinical Informatics Director (Remote)
About This Position
GovCIO is hiring a Clinical Informatics Director (MD/DO) to lead senior clinical strategy for complex healthcare technology projects, working fully remote from Washington, D.C., US.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and guidance across large‑scale digital health initiatives, ensuring alignment with provider workflows and patient outcomes.
- Act as the primary liaison between clinicians, IT teams, and executive sponsors to translate clinical needs into technical requirements.
- Develop, oversee, and evaluate clinical informatics policies, standards, and best practices.
- Lead interdisciplinary teams in the design, implementation, and optimization of electronic health record (EHR) systems, telehealth platforms, and data analytics tools.
- Drive performance metrics, data quality, and reporting to support evidence‑based decision making.
- Mentor and coach clinical staff on effective use of health IT solutions.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO degree with board certification and a minimum of 8 years of clinical practice experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in health informatics, clinical workflow optimization, or related digital health leadership roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in EHR implementation, interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7), and health data analytics.
- Strong knowledge of federal health IT regulations, privacy (HIPAA) and security standards.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic planning skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in Health Informatics, Public Health, or Business Administration.
- Experience with cloud‑based health platforms and AI‑driven clinical decision support.
- Previous work with government or large health system contracts.
Compensation & Benefits
