About This Position
Job Summary
The County of Santa Barbara is seeking a full‑time CalAIM Billing and Coding Manager to lead its health department billing, coding, and training operations in Santa Barbara, California.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all CalAIM billing and coding activities ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Develop and deliver training programs for billing staff and clinical providers.
- Monitor and analyze billing performance metrics, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
- Coordinate with the County Health Department, insurers, and external vendors to resolve billing issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation, audit trails, and reporting for all financial transactions.
- Supervise a team of billing specialists, providing coaching, performance reviews, and career development.
- Stay current with changes to Medicaid, Medicare, and CalAIM policies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in medical billing, coding, and reimbursement, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of CalAIM, ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, and Medicaid/Medicare guidelines.
- Certification such as CPC, CCS, or RHIA is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with billing software (e.g., Epic, Meditech) and Microsoft Office Suite.
