About This Position
Job Summary
Merck is seeking an Associate Specialist, Engineering (Biotechnology Solutions) to join its Millsboro, Sussex County, US team. This role supports the development and maintenance of biotechnological equipment and processes that enable innovative animal health products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, installation, qualification, and validation of biotechnology laboratory and production equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure equipment meets regulatory and performance standards.
- Document all activities in compliance with GMP, SOPs, and Merck’s quality management system.
- Support equipment qualification protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) and generate accurate technical reports.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and process efficiency.
- Provide technical training and guidance to junior engineers and laboratory staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field.
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience with biotech instrumentation, automation, or process equipment.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, validation principles, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in PLC, HMI, and basic programming/scripting for equipment control.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Willingness to work in a laboratory/production environment and adhere to safety protocols.
Compensation
