Job Summary
The Associate Legal Counsel – Corporate Trust role at UMB Bank is a hybrid‑remote position based in Washington, D.C., US. You will support structured finance, escrow, municipal and corporate bond transactions by reviewing and improving legal documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and comment on structured finance documents, escrow agreements, municipal and corporate bond notes, and related transaction paperwork.
- Draft and propose amendments to protect UMB Bank’s Corporate Trust interests.
- Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on transaction structures, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with senior counsel, finance teams, and external counsel to ensure timely closing of transactions.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of corporate trust regulations, securities law, and industry best practices.
- Assist in the preparation of internal memoranda, board presentations, and compliance reports.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the District of Columbia or another U.S. jurisdiction.
- 2–4 years of experience in corporate trust, structured finance, or securities law.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex transaction documents.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
Compensation & Benefits
