Job Summary

The Associate Legal Counsel – Corporate Trust role at UMB Bank is a hybrid‑remote position based in Washington, D.C., US. You will support structured finance, escrow, municipal and corporate bond transactions by reviewing and improving legal documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and comment on structured finance documents, escrow agreements, municipal and corporate bond notes, and related transaction paperwork.
• Draft and propose amendments to protect UMB Bank’s Corporate Trust interests.
• Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on transaction structures, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with senior counsel, finance teams, and external counsel to ensure timely closing of transactions.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of corporate trust regulations, securities law, and industry best practices.
• Assist in the preparation of internal memoranda, board presentations, and compliance reports.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the District of Columbia or another U.S. jurisdiction.
• 2–4 years of experience in corporate trust, structured finance, or securities law.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex transaction documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
