Associate Legal Counsel – Corporate Trust (Remote Hybrid)

UMB Bank is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel – Corporate Trust to work remotely with a hybrid schedule from Lansing, Ingham County, US. This full‑time role focuses on structured finance, escrow, municipal and corporate bond transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and comment on structured finance documents, escrow agreements, municipal and corporate bond paperwork, and related transaction documentation.
• Draft and negotiate amendments to protect Corporate Trust’s interests.
• Provide legal advice to internal teams on risk, compliance, and regulatory matters related to corporate trust activities.
• Collaborate with external counsel, lenders, and counterparties to ensure timely closing of transactions.
• Maintain accurate records of legal opinions, approvals, and transactional filings.

Required Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 2‑4 years of experience in corporate trust, structured finance, or municipal bond practice.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote‑hybrid environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal research tools.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with escrow agreements and note documentation.
• Familiarity with U.S. securities regulations and municipal finance.

Compensation & Benefits
