About This Position
UMB Bank is seeking an Associate Legal Counsel – Corporate Trust to work remotely with a hybrid schedule from Kansas City, Jackson County, US. This full‑time role focuses on structured finance, escrow, municipal and corporate trust transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and comment on structured finance documents, escrow agreements, municipal and corporate bond notes, and related transaction paperwork.
- Draft and negotiate contractual language to protect UMB Bank’s Corporate Trust interests.
- Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on complex trust structures and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and risk teams to ensure seamless execution of trust transactions.
- Stay current on industry regulations, SEC guidance, and market developments affecting corporate trust activities.
Required Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 2–5 years of experience in corporate trust, structured finance, or securities law.
- Strong analytical and drafting skills with the ability to simplify complex legal concepts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for cross‑functional collaboration.
- Proficiency with contract management software and Microsoft Office suite.
Compensation & Benefits
