About This Position
Job Summary
Farmington Public Schools is seeking a full‑time Special Education CARE Team Member to provide mental health and instructional support for elementary and preschool students at Union Elementary School and the Preschool at West Woods Upper Elementary School in Farmington, Hartford County, US.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a teacher leader on the Special Education CARE Team, coordinating mental health interventions and individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and families to develop and implement evidence‑based strategies that promote academic and social‑emotional success.
- Deliver direct instruction and small‑group support in both elementary and preschool settings, adapting curricula to meet diverse learning profiles.
- Conduct functional behavior assessments, monitor progress, and adjust interventions based on data.
- Provide professional development and coaching to staff on inclusive practices and mental health awareness.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and district regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid Connecticut Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility).
- Minimum of 2 years experience in special education, preferably with early childhood or elementary populations.
- Strong knowledge of IDEA, RTI, and mental health frameworks for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $56,018 – $114,029 annually, based on experience and qualifications. Full benefits package includes health, dental, retirement, and professional development opportunities.
