Advanced Specialist, Service Provider (Special Education)
About This Position
Pearson is seeking an Advanced Specialist, Service Provider (Special Education) to join its Pearson Virtual Schools division in Boise, Ada County, US. This role supports virtual K‑12 learners with special education needs and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high‑quality special education services to students enrolled in Connections Academy and Pearson Online Academy.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, families, and external service providers.
- Conduct virtual assessments, evaluate progress data, and adjust instructional strategies to meet each learner’s goals.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and state-specific special education statutes.
- Serve as a liaison between school administrators, clinicians, and external agencies to coordinate supports and resources.
- Deliver professional development and coaching to virtual teachers on inclusive instructional practices.
- Maintain accurate records in Pearson’s data systems and produce regular compliance reports.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure in Special Education (or eligibility for licensure in Idaho).
- Minimum 5 years of experience providing special education services in a K‑12 setting, preferably with online or blended learning environments.
- Strong knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and related federal and state regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
- Proficiency with virtual learning platforms, student information systems, and data analysis tools.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with evidence‑based interventions such as RTI, PBIS, or MTSS.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and accessibility standards.
- Previous experience working in a virtual school or district.
Compensation & Benefits
