Job Summary

Kentucky Community and Technical College System is seeking an Accounting Specialist/Accountant II for its Gateway Community & Technical College Edgewood Campus in Edgewood, Kenton County, KY. This full‑time, non‑exempt position offers a salary of $47,118 and a 12‑month contract with a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with college policies.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the Business Office.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice verification and vendor payments.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audit preparations.
  • Generate ad‑hoc financial reports for college leadership and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff on accounting procedures and software.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a hybrid environment.
