Job Summary
Kentucky Community and Technical College System is seeking an Accounting Specialist/Accountant II for its Gateway Community & Technical College Edgewood Campus in Edgewood, Kenton County, KY. This full‑time, non‑exempt position offers a salary of $47,118 and a 12‑month contract with a hybrid work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with college policies.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the Business Office.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice verification and vendor payments.
- Conduct internal audits and support external audit preparations.
- Generate ad‑hoc financial reports for college leadership and regulatory agencies.
- Provide training and guidance to junior staff on accounting procedures and software.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in higher education.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting standards.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate in a hybrid environment.
