Job Summary
Capital One is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager, Close & Consolidations to lead the close and consolidation process at our Capitol, Richmond, US office. This role combines technical accounting expertise with people‑focused leadership in a fast‑paced financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the end‑to‑end consolidation of financial statements across all legal entities.
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendar to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Collaborate closely with technology and accounting system teams to enhance automation and data integrity.
- Provide guidance on legal entity structuring, intercompany transactions, and accounting policy application.
- Lead and mentor a team of accountants, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Drive enterprise‑wide initiatives such as ERP upgrades, process standardization, and regulatory compliance projects.
- Prepare and present consolidation results to senior leadership and external auditors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, close management, and consolidation.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with multi‑entity consolidations.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP) and advanced Excel/Power Query skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing accounting staff.
Compensation
Salary range: $168,580.34 per year.
