About This Position
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Controller to lead the finance function for a Federal Contractor based in San Diego, San Diego County. This full‑time role offers a fixed salary of $126,613.17 per year.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct all accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management.
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and federal regulations.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing variance analysis and actionable insights to senior leadership.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control policies to safeguard assets and ensure audit readiness.
- Coordinate external audits and respond to auditor inquiries promptly.
- Oversee regulatory reporting requirements specific to federal contracting, such as FAR and DFARS compliance.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, delivering clear recommendations to the executive team.
- Mentor and develop a small accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a controller or senior finance role.
- Strong knowledge of government contracting accounting standards and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team and driving process improvements.
