Job Summary

The City of Lafayette Housing Authority is seeking an experienced Accountant Supervisor to oversee its financial operations in Lafayette, Lafayette Parish, US. This full‑time role offers a salary of $67,142.56 per year.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
• Maintain the general ledger, perform month‑end close, and prepare journal entries.
• Conduct regular reconciliations of bank accounts, fund balances, and HUD‑related accounts.
• Prepare and present monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Ensure compliance with HUD accounting standards and other federal, state, and local regulations.
• Oversee multiple funding streams, monitoring allocations, expenditures, and grant requirements.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing training and performance feedback.
• Assist the Executive Director with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public housing or government finance.
• Strong knowledge of HUD accounting rules and grant management.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Yardi, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
