Job Summary
Families and Youth Inc is seeking a full‑time Accountant I to join its Finance Department in Las Cruces, Doña Ana County. This entry‑level role offers a salary of $34,266.56 per year and provides hands‑on experience in financial record‑keeping, accounts payable/receivable, and month‑end close processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
- Process accounts payable invoices, verify approvals, and schedule timely payments.
- Prepare and record accounts receivable invoices, monitor collections, and reconcile customer accounts.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Support the Financial Controller with financial reporting, variance analysis, and budget preparation.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve internal controls.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1‑2 years of relevant accounting experience or a recent graduate with strong academic performance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or NetSuite).
- Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
