If you have a passion for keeping critical systems running smoothly and want to grow your career in a flexible environment, read on.

About the Role

As a Remote Datacenter Technician, you will be the eyes and hands on the ground for our distributed facilities, leveraging remote management tools, IPMI/iDRAC, and on‑site vendor partners to perform installations, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance. You will act as the primary technical liaison between our data center operations team and third‑party providers, ensuring SLAs are met and incidents are resolved swiftly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate hardware deliveries, rack‑and‑stack installations, and cable management for servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Perform remote power cycling, firmware updates, and BIOS configuration via out‑of‑band management interfaces.
  • Monitor environmental sensors, temperature, humidity, and power metrics; initiate corrective actions when thresholds are breached.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware failures, coordinating with vendors for parts replacement and escalation.
  • Maintain accurate asset inventory in CMDB, documenting all changes and updates.
  • Assist in capacity planning, providing data on utilization trends and recommending upgrades.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience as a Datacenter Technician, Field Service Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of server hardware (Dell, HPE, Cisco, Supermicro), storage arrays, and networking gear (switches, routers, firewalls).
  • Proficiency with remote management tools: IPMI, iLO, iDRAC, Redfish, and SSH consoles.
  • Familiarity with data center standards: TIA‑942, ANSI/TIA‑568, and basic electrical safety (NFPA 70E).
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, maneuver equipment in rack environments, and work safely with power distribution units.
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable coordinating with vendors, internal teams, and third‑party contractors.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Windows server OS installation and troubleshooting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification (CompTIA Server+, DCAC, or vendor‑specific) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud‑adjacent infrastructure (e.g., hybrid environments, edge sites).
  • Scripting basics (Python, Bash) for automating routine checks.
  • Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or vendor‑specific hardware certs.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $55,000 – $75,000 USD per year, based on experience.
  • Fully remote work – flexible hours with core collaboration windows.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Generous paid time off and company holidays.
  • Annual professional development stipend for certifications and training.
  • Employee assistance program and wellness resources.
