We’re hiring a proactive, detail-oriented First-Line Supervisor of Food Preparation Workers to guide kitchen teams in a fast-paced, high-volume food service environment—all while working remotely with full operational oversight and support. This role is ideal for seasoned food service professionals who thrive on leadership, efficiency, and quality control—without being tied to a single physical location.
With a flexible remote setup and competitive compensation, this position offers autonomy, growth, and impact across multiple kitchen locations. If you excel at mentoring teams, optimizing workflows, and ensuring food safety and consistency—this could be your next big career leap.
About the Role
As a Remote First-Line Supervisor of Food Preparation Workers, you’ll serve as the critical link between kitchen leadership and frontline staff—overseeing food prep operations across multiple sites while managing remotely via digital tools, video coordination, and real-time dashboards. You’ll ensure prep stations run smoothly, food quality remains top-tier, and safety standards are rigorously upheld—even when you’re not physically on-site.
Your responsibilities include:
- Monitoring and evaluating food preparation workflows via digital scheduling and QA systems
- Coaching, training, and mentoring shift leads and prep staff through virtual huddles and onboarding
- Ensuring compliance with FDA Food Code, HACCP, and company food safety protocols
- Collaborating with purchasing and inventory teams to minimize waste and optimize stock levels
- Reviewing daily prep logs, yield reports, and staff performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Responding to urgent issues (e.g., equipment failures, supply shortages) with swift, strategic action
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of food service experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead capacity (preferably in commercial, institutional, or high-volume food production)
- Proven ability to train, motivate, and hold teams accountable in fast-paced environments
- Strong grasp of food safety standards (ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification required)
- Proficiency with POS systems, inventory software (e.g., Toast, Upserve, or similar), and remote collaboration tools (Teams, Zoom, Google Workspace)
- High school diploma or GED; associate/bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or related field is a plus
- Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated, quiet workspace for remote coordination
Preferred (But Not Required)
- Experience in multi-unit or centralized kitchens (e.g., meal prep hubs, caterers, hospital food services)
- Knowledge of lean kitchen practices, standardized recipes, and yield management
- Certifications in HACCP, Allergen Management, or Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCSFH)
Salary Range
$48,500 – $67,000 USD/year
Compensation is based on experience, geographic cost-of-living adjustments (where applicable), and performance benchmarks. Top performers may qualify for quarterly bonuses tied to team retention, quality metrics, and waste reduction targets.
